Miracoco Luminarium: Immerse yourself in colour
Last weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Miracoco luminarium in Dundee - an amazing structure where you are immersed in light and colour.
From the outside, it looked a little like a giant bouncy castle - made from plastic sheeting and inflated by air. However, the shapes were much more interesting - pointly, star-like sections and domes of various sizes, linked together by short passageways. Reading the information sheet we were given on arrival, I discovered that the design had been inspired by the beauty of natural geometry and by Islamic architecture.
As we'd pre-booked tickets, we were able to avoid the huge queue and go straight inside.
It was amazing.
All of the light and colour inside the luminarium is created by light shining through the coloured plastic. There's no actual lighting inside!
Although it was quite busy, it didn't feel that way. Little pod areas allowed you to sit and relax for a while and properly take in your surroundings.
If you're able to visit a luminarium then please do - it truly was a magical experience.
